Saxony Breed Standard

Saxony Breed Standard

Large birds with wide chests and bright orange coloring are especially desirable for breeders. The hens usually make good mothers when allowed to sit. Drakes have a deep blue head and dark chestnut body.

Our population of Saxony ducks was established directly from Lance Ewert, master breeder and president of the APA.

NOTE: Saxony are a large breed duck, they weigh 8-9 pounds! There are other ducks with the same pastel coloring, which comes from color combinations of Buff, Overberg and Trout. Call ducks and runners can have a "saxony" coloring, but they are not Saxony the breed.
